Vision and Process Work
When developing a reimagined poster for this, I focused on the films main core elements.
Belladonna of Sadness is an art horror film that takes place in Old France.
It has many monotone uses of pastel colours and french inspired elements.
A film that showcases hypnotic and artistic visuals to evoke
the main characters feelings and hallucinations she witnesses.
I first mapped out a moodboard then moved onto creating a custom typeface called "Aerith"
Mixing cursive and bold letters to incorporate an elegant style that encompasses the films theme and nature.
I created a 2nd version of the movie poster but using
more dark tones and elements that encompass the
movies themes that touch on the main characters
hallucinations. Using a hand that showcases the main
characters distress and the red hand being a symbol
of the dark memories she hallucinates.
My moodboard was key in creating my overall project,
it mapped out ideas of what elements I can input onto
the poster and how I can use soft colours for a horror film.
